About Me

I am Stewart Stevenson and I was a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Banff & Buchan and then Banffshire & Buchan Coast constituencies between 2001 and 2021.

Before that I completed a modest degree in mathematics at the University of Aberdeen and then worked for 30 years at Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh as a software engineer and manager. I retired in 1999 as Director of Technology Innovation.

I later lectured to Post Graduate students at Heriot-Watt University and served as a Minister in the Scottish Government for 5 years.

In 2016 I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde. Since October 2022 I have been enrolled in an MSc course on the same subjects.

This blog started as an account of my time at a social distance from relatives, chums, everyone but spouse Sandra and feline boss Madelaine.

And it is evolving into occasional thoughts on life after elective politics.
